Terms and conditions

All freight is carried and business transacted in accordance with the British International Freight Association trading conditions 1989 edition. Basically, that implies that the maximum payable is 2SDR's per kilo.

The exeptions to the above are when:

1) The contract for theInternational Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR) convention applies. Certain international trailer movements carry freight under these conditions which, if they exist, override the BIFA conditions. CMR conditions mean that the maximum payable is 8.33 SDR's per kilo.

2) Warsaw convention rules apply (air freight). These rules mean that the air freight compensation has a maximum payout of 17 SDR's per kilo, provided that certain other criteria apply.

3) National Association of Warehouse Keepers (NAWK) conditions apply. Our computerised storage facility offers a maximum payout of £100 per tonne.

4) Road Haulage Association conditions apply when we are transporting your freight domestically. Maximum payout is then £1.30 per kilo.


Definition...... A Special Drawing Right (SDR) is a unit of currency which is calculated as the average value (mean) of a specified group of international currencies. The value therefore, differs almost daily, but is quoted in the FT.

Warning.. In view of all the above please don't end up being under-insured . we are always able to offer guidance as to how full value transit cover can be arranged at attractive rates.

Payment Terms

All services are to be paid for in full prior to shipping. Bank details can be supplied if required. The only exception to this is for contract customers who are invoiced strictly on a 28 day credit facility.
